Thank you so very much for the huge donation that we have received from you. Thank you to the organisers who have worked so hard to make this donation possible.
A special thanks to everyone that attended your event and opened their hearts and their wallets to assist SAVF Margaretha Ackerman Old age Home.
Your help and the massive donation we received is extremely overwhelming. Thank you for making the effort to assist those in need.
This message of thanks comes with the utmost sincerity, from deep within our hearts.
Please remember our doors are always open to you for a visit or just a quick hallo.
The Elderly individuals are often lonely and appreciate the company of younger people such as yourselves.

All too often the old and frail are often forgotten and that is why this year we have decided to support the Margaretha Ackerman Old Age Home.
The Margaretha Ackerman Old Age Home offers a comprehensive nursing service which strives to physically and psychologically better the quality of life of over 170 elderly individuals. This service is provided through a holistic approach where the nurses are available 24 hours a day, regardless of race, nationality or gender of the residents.
There is a unit cost payable per month for each resident, but it goes without saying very few can afford it on their minimal pension, if any, therefore the home is mostly reliant on donations.
This situation then results in the contribution of the resident’s children for their parents to be able to stay afloat – also putting pressure on the family’s fund that is not very flexible or able to frequently replenish because of the financial constraints.
The Margaretha Ackerman Old age home and it’s competent staff explores every avenue to increase quality of life and add value to these elderly individuals, the house is almost bursting at its seems it’s so full.
Together with a place to sleep and nutrition to the extent that the funds allow, the home also includes activities and services that include church and bible study, a hairdresser, social activity such as game days and outings, occupational therapy as well as a multi-sensory room for those growing old with dementia.
The old age home has quite a specific needs requirement for the elderly people as well as any donation of non-perishable foods and usual toiletries.
SPECIFIC needs of the home are more focused on medical supplies, where previously it was for the non-perishable foods etc.
ANY donation is most welcome and the home will be humbled by your generosity; such as:
- Bedding such as sheets, duvet’s, blankets and pillow cases
- Wool
- ANY types of groceries, toiletries or non-perishable goods
As mentioned above the home's PRIMARY NEEDS are listed below:
- Wound Care Products
- Plasters
- Gauze
- Cotton Wool
- Bactroban
- Dettol
- Ensure Supplements
- Flu Medication
- Berocca
- Cal C Vita
- Geronsan C
- Diabetic Sticks for Accu Chekc Active Machine
- Plastic Gloves
- Aquas Cream
- Adult Diapers
Any and all other goods you will not be using - please bring it along so we can find a good use for it.
